Terrain Aeration

Clubs suffering from water logging and compaction problems can remedy the situation now, rather than risk cancelled or postponed matches in season.

Terrain Aeration, the one-metre deep aeration and decompaction specialists (who field the largest fleet of Airforce Terralift machines in Europe) are offering cricket maintenance packages which include site inspections pre and end of season, one metre soil core sampling, aeration to a depth of one metre on outfields and wickets, the breaking of clay, iron and plough pans and the injection of NPK fertilisers, trace elements and clay breakers.

This form of aeration treatment, which injects compressed air through a probe, inserted one metre below the surface, breaks up the soil creating minute, underground fractures and fissures, increasing oxygen penetration and gaseous exchange, which   stimulates microbial activity and encourages stronger root growth.

By creating direct air channels from the surface to a depth of one metre the aeration process promotes the rapid draining of surface water and encourages natural drainage. The surface is not disrupted, even on wickets and the company assures Groundsmen that the process does not create dead spots or affect the bounce of the ball. This aeration treatment should last a minimum of ten years.

Airforce Terralift machines have been used on cricket wickets and outfields since 1985.
